"Unfinished"
"Nexus"
Series of project mockups and test materials from various mediums
Collective Exhibition, June 2022
Okna Cultural Center, Porto, Portugal
Nexus is a project that was proposed to a three month long artist residency located in Prague, in the Czech Republic. The project centered around the idea of “self origin” by investigating Juna’s Czech descent on her father’s side of the family (her great-great grandparents).Through this research she hoped to raise questions about self history, biological and emotional bloodlines, geographical belonging, and collective memory. With the intention of creating a final exhibition, Nexus incorporated various mediums such as installation, video, sound, printmaking, and photography.
Discontinued due to rejection, Nexus remains in its initial process, an example of the chaos and gathering of ideas that comes before the concretization of a project; the phase of entanglement which is often followed by simplification.

MIDL #2 Collective Event
"Transfiguration 2.0 - "Are You Searching?"
Collective Exhibition, 2019
Video mapped projection on textiles
Broca's Area 501 Collective Studio Exhibition, Porto, Portugal
Transfiguration 2.0 - “Are You Searching?” Is a part of a series of explorations and experiments in audio-visual/multimedia relationships. The installation consists of two colliding texts, one of sense, one of nonsense. When they merge, a new form is metamorphosed, a few seconds tipping on the edge of the known and the unknown, before gliding back to themselves. With a corresponding audio track, the installation absorbs you into a field of colliding information and sounds. Moments of chaos and moments of clarity respond deeply to the very human search for meaning and understanding. “Are You Searching?” invites you into the subconscious world, an information feed, a stream of thought, that asks questions about both inner and outer worlds.

Hifen Exhibition
"Transfiguration 1.0"
Collective Exhibition, 2018-2019
Video mapping projection on polyester panels, audio
CACE, Porto, Portugal
“Transfiguration 1.0” is the result of an in depth study of translation and the process of understanding. It is a part in a series of experiments and explorations that use audio/visual elements to recycle and transform mixed medias. The installation consists of multiple vertically hanging transparent fabric panels that are installed one in front of the other in a line, creating many layers.
The projection on the fabric is made from digital renderings of handmade prints. This concept of translating handmade forms into digital ones also is found in the audio, which comes from the looping of cello recordings. The layers of projections and the layers of sound work together to create an environment that the viewer can become immersed in, losing themselves in the installation.
The installation was part of the senior semester exhibition (Hifen) for sculpture students at the Faculdade de Belas Artes do Porto. The exhibition took place from the 25th of Jan - 7th of Feb at Espaco Cultural CACE, Porto.

In part with the installation there is a handmade book that contains the original prints that the projections are based off of. It acts as a deeper visual explanation of the project, while also showing some of its points of origin.
